8am start and we begin our descent down through the valleys of the Atlas, through more remote communities. I was suprised at the amount of children that
litteraly run at the vehicles, some want pens and sweets but virtually everyone just wants to wave and say hello! We pass through Tamtattouchte and descend
down the amazing Todra Gorge, the scenery is outstanding. The road that runs about 10m above the river bed was washed away in places so we had to drop to
the river bed and drive along that for part of the way. After only seeing a handful of people for several days we suddenly arrive at the bottom of the Gorge
to find literally hundreds of people enjoying the river which now has water in it. There are vehicles parked everywhere, people playing drums, people swiming
and paddling in the river ... I take the oppertunity to re-introduce my feet to water after two days of no showers!
After half an hour in the Gorge we set off for Tinerhir where we will be staying for the night. We are due to be camping but as there are clean rooms with
toilets and showers for about £10 we decide to upgrade :o) After a well earned shower we head off to Hassans brothers carpet shop where we are given a talk
on how they are made. The place is huge and has so many differnt rooms (and carpets) After being show several different carpets we decide that whilst they
are very good quality it is not something we want to spend money on. Hassans family then prepared a traditional home cooked meal, lamb Tagine, which we ate
with bread using out hands whilst sitting on the floor ... very tasty it was too. The room was very hot but after soaking the bed sheet in cold water we had
our own cooling environmental air con! This was repeated a few times through the night once it dried out but we had a very sound nights sleep.
